The Time Traveller 2

March 23, 2011

My house was right next to the bush. Quickly I ran back to the old wooden fence, hopped through the missing posts and then went into my house. School had finished and I was in the special time between school ending and my dad coming home. My room was just in the hall past the kitchen and I found my diary open on my bed. I wrote the date, the time, and what had just happened making sure to underline the new word that had surfaced; “clarity.” I re-read what I had written as sometimes it brought back more memories of the future.

“A moment of clarity standing in the bush,” I said, reading what I had wrote. “I was thinking about re-living my life. This is some proof that I am re-living my life, because it is like what that man said about ‘I think and that means I am real’. For me it should be ‘I am re-living my life because I think I am’. Also, as I thought about my future/past life a word surfaced from the sands of time. Clarity. I have never used and probably never heard that word, and yet I used it in a sentence and knew its meaning.”

I was not satisfied with the entry. It did not sound intelligent, though I did not feel too bad. I realised that this, too, might be a sign. “When I was older I was smart, therefore I can recognise myself being unintelligent at this moment. As I am not yet smart, I cannot do anything as smart as what I could do or can do in the future. I can only recognise it.”

The logic was confusing. I knew that, but I recognised that in the future I would understand and the important thing was just to write it down. When I reread this later, or showed it to specialists, then they could work it out. That is why I started this journal. At that moment I turned to the front page of my journal and wrote a brief apology to myself and anyone else who would be reading this sometime in history.
