February 1st…

January 31, 2012

Below you will notice a new poem, titled Home. Well this was started a while ago and then now revisited and edited. The themes are quite plain to see, and it reminds me a lot of going home for the holidays and feeling utterly isolated and suffering from ennui.

At the moment I am not particularly feeling like that…but I am longing for the future and hoping to take a mini-retirement for a few months somewhere, just kick back, drink a beer, and hopefully write some happy poems, because I know those are the ones that the kids love. Inspiring lines, epic paragraphs, and so forth…Hollywood worthy poetry you could make into a trilogy. Find in McDonalds happy meals. You know the shit I’m talking about…sure you do.

I have another poem I might post soon about longing for the future and the past. It says a bit about my Buddhist beliefs in ‘capturing the moment’ and the struggle to actually accomplish this. A lot of that longing is not actually a wish to return to a past time, but an ill-content about the present. I am a bit of a ‘glass half full’ kinda person, but that kind of attitude is just the same as a ‘glass half empty’ person. Despite your attitude, if you don’t make the conscious decision to change, then you’re still only got half a fucking glass of milk. And who wants that? It’ll probably go warm, too, cause you’re doing nothing and it’s just sitting there. Dunk the cookie, already! And that is my profound message for this post.

Peace.

Thought you might like this one, I am using it to motivate my series of paintings on belonging/home/refuge. KAJG
