February 3rd…

February 2, 2012

So, here is another post below. I haven’t posted much of my prose lately…well I haven’t really been writing any, so, there you go. If you are just checking this out, then this is just a little bit I am posting from my 3rd novel I am writing, which is part 2 of a 2 part fantasy series. I am a big fan of SciFi, SF,(Always forget the difference. Just put both.) and Fantasy. This bit is obviously a fantasy story. Based mainly around 2 characters and their journey (both internal and external…like it wouldn’t be both…duh).

I won’t bore the pants over your face with the details. Why as writers are we always trying to do that to each other? No wonder we all secretly hate one another. Just the other night I was in a bar, SOBER, god can only believe it, and the stupid question slipped of my curs-ed tongue, “so what is your novel about”…(Insert rant here).

Anywhere, here is a little about my process…

This is especially for long fiction. My poetry, totally different. OK, so I usually sit down at my desk, organise my pens, browse facebook, scratch certain parts of my body, tap away to some music, remember what I’m meant to be doing, and then type a few words. Tonight it was a continuation of the main body…it usually starts off very slow, a lot of descriptions of shit, but I just try and get the scene down, as you can get rid of it later and it is encouraging to see the words multiplying.

Next I remember that, hey, this is my damn story and it’s meant to be fun. I can make the assholes in my story do whatever I want! I usually have a few fantasies about crazy stuff I could get them to do (not THOSE kind of fantasies…keep it clean, people) and a few ideas actually pop up which might be useful later in the story. This is such a scene that I think I’ll put in later in the novel.

I usually have a bunch of these hanging around further down my script. They are good because-

1. You feel good for slamming down those words.

2. They start to make up a the vague outline for where your story is going.

3. You can cut them out at any point, use them for inspiration later, or add them to what your writing at the moment if you can.

Well, there are just a couple of hints and perhaps even tips for yourself.

Good night all.

Peace and regards.
