Monday February 13th…

February 13, 2012

I was going to add a little bit I wrote for my novel, but I left my pad at my friend’s house last night, so I’ll speak a little about my inspiration of the piece.

OK, so, I like to read a bit about technology, science, philosophy, futurism, ideas, etc. It’s quite good to inspire yourself and get new ideas. One such guy who has been useful lately is Jason Silva. He is pretty enthusiastic, but he knows what he is talking about. On one podcast I was listening to he was talking about how Man’s evolution stopped being biological as soon as we started speaking.

Speech, one of our first technologies, allowed us to communicate our thoughts through basic noises. Then came writing and our technological evolution developed faster up until today where we are literally cyborgs. We had smart-phones where we can connect to a world-wide network instantly, which is basically a form of telepathy. We have cars, which are virtual exoskeletons, and if you don’t think that this is being a cyborg because the technology is outside of ourselves, there are people with artificial knees and even a man with no pulse. His heart is mechanical and pumps blood around his body smoothly with no pulse. Soon enough we will have nano machines at an atomic level, able to change atomic structure, and literally arrange atoms to change their inherent being. What the alchemists of old attempted to do, change lead into gold, we will be able to do.

So, back to my writing. If you have read any of it, you’ll hear a people called the “Wrigg”. You find out they are masters of technology and I have worked this idea of technological evolution into the writing. They have gone from experimenting with biological evolution into that of the technological kind. Guus meets a man who was the pinnacle of these abandoned experiments. He reveals the origins of Freij, the automaton, and the origins of those beneath. Two important parts of where my story is headed.

I guess my point today is that if you are stuck or unsure where a theme or a part of the story will go, if you keep reading a wide and varied range of topics and keep writing, your ideas will sort themselves out. You will be surprised and pretty much chuffed at what you can come up with.

That’s all I have to say today.

Peace and regards.
