Glint – Part 2 – Fragment

April 5, 2013

Freijgilten had not been able to enter the great door that the Wrigg, Guus, and his new pet had trundled through, but there was always a way. For the immortal, no door was ever closed forever. For one such as her, it had taken no longer than the roads of man might have. Peaks of ice and snow were barriers only to those of flesh. What cold and pain had entered her found a welcome hearth and home.

She had emerged under the shadow of three mighty sisters of the earth, casting their shadows over this grand field of stone. A tumultuous petrified sea. The moon lit it all, not that she now needed light to see or her useless engraved eyes, but she knew it was so. Her entrance into the home of the Wrigg was lit under a great cavernous overhang.

Across the natural road ways, amongst the crags and upon the grassy earth ran herds of Wrigg horses. Hundreds and hundreds of these beasts in great groups. They knew what she was. All animals did and most feared her. But one day, just like the cockroaches within her, they would obey and learn to love her. It was inevitable. Far away her eye caught a particular horse. That one of Guus’s; Victor. The cockroaches whirred inside her, echoing her distaste. Now that one, she knew, would not bow to her. That one…She stood up and cast her own shadow down below, like a victorious queen, and began her descent down the sheer rock face.
